New Reviews on T-rex 450 SA
Well, it looks like we have some results on the T-rex 450 SA, so far there has been very little negative thoughts and it looks to be a hot helicopter. I have summarized every ones Opinion on this this new ARF avalable from horizon hobby.
what other people think:
“Align is acknowledged by modelers around the world as the undisputed leader when it comes to advancing high-performance electric heli technology. The T-REX 450SA is just one more product of this relentless innovation. Using a combination of tough, lightweight aluminum and updated composite parts, Align has designed and equipped the T-REX 450SA to be capable of the most extreme 3D maneuvers right out of the box. And since it’s 95% assembled, you can have it flying in just a few hours. ”

“I selected the JR DS285 digital servos for the head and the new JR DS3400G digital servo for the tail rotor pitch control. I could have easily used E-flite/Spektrum S75’s for the head as well. The instruction manual gives specifics about the installation of both of these servos as well as the DS3400G. The S75 is an excellent servo for sport type flying, while the DS285 offers the ultimate in control and precision for a slightly higher cost. The DS3400G is a blindingly fast servo that is perfectly suited for mini-helicopter tail rotor control. With transit times of .11 sec/60 degree at 4.8 volts and .09 sec/60 degrees at 6 volts this servo is one of the fastest available today, and speed is definitely every pilot’s friend for a tail rotor servo! “

I started flying with the Blade CP –> Blade CP Pro –> Blade 400(love the 400). I saw the T-rex 450 SA and decided to give it a try. I really liked the rotor head design and the fact that the overall built seems very sturdy. The manual was magnificient in explaning how to install the servos, reciever, gyro, ESC(Electronic Speed Controller), linkages etc., and how to configure your radio(transmitter) along with lots of pre-flight “prep tips”. I’ll do my first test flight today(1-18-2008) and give a follow up.
I purchased a T-Rex 450 SA a week ago. I installed and setup everything per the instructions. I had to make a few minor tweaks to the pitch curve and everything was almost spot on. It’s been about 8-10 years since I’ve flown heli’s but I was able to pick it back up in no time. The T-Rex is very responsive right out of the box. The kit is very impressive from the quality of parts to the detailed manual that has more than enough information to get you in the air quickly. I wouldn’t recommend this heli to a beginner but I guess if you tone it down it would be fine. I would write more but I have a date with the flying field.
